Jowar cookies So this time I used Jowar flour instead of whole wheat or all purpose. Yes I was a bit sceptical for the end result, as this is the first time I am using this flour in baking. But the end result can be seen in the pics. You can cook Jowar cookies using 7 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you cook that.

Ingredients of Jowar cookies

  1. Prepare 1 cup of jowar.
  2. It's 1/2 cup of jaggery.
  3. It's 6 of almonds finely chopped.
  4. It's 1 tsp of baking powder.
  5. You need 50 gm of butter.
  6. Prepare 1/2 tsp of mix spice powder (ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon).
  7. You need as needed of Milk.

This sorghum flour cookies recipe can easily be made sugar-free by replacing the maple syrup with a sugar-free syrup, and replacing regular chocolate chips with sugar-free chocolate chips. Nutty Jowar & Rajgira Cookies turned out simply good. Well I did use Whole wheat flour , so won't put it under gluten free still. But I am sure this can be done without whole wheat too.

Jowar cookies step by step

  1. In a kadai dry roast jowar flour in a low flame for 3-4min and keep aside in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add jaggery powder, baking powder, almonds, spices and butter.
  3. Mix dry ingredient very well using hands then add milk and prepare tight dough.
  4. Take small quantity and flatten between hands and place in baking tray with parchment paper, using fork prick in cookies. Do same in all cookies..
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°c for 12min once done cool it and then store in airtight container..

I am soon going to try that gluten free version. Cookies at my place are quite common. My son just loves snacking on them.
