Vanilla Cookies step by step
- In a bowl add butter and icing sugar and whisk till light and pale in colour. Add vanilla essence and mix it well.
- Sieve maida and baking powder. Mix it in butter mixture in two batches,it should be crumbly in texture. Transfer it on a plate and divide into two parts. To one part add red colour and mix it adding a tsp of milk into a smooth dough. Add a tsp of milk to the other half mixture and make a smooth dough.
- Make 2 parts of red dough and 2 parts of white dough. Roll each dough into a long roll and cut into small parts. Then take 3 parts of each white and red keep it as shown in the picture join all the parts together and make a ball gently with your palm and press it lightly to form a round cookie and place it in a greased tin with parchment paper.
- Put this in a pre heated pan cover and cook for 30 mins or till the sides are light golden. Remove from the pan and cool it completely and store it an airtight container.
Before making these cookies, I had never mixed cookie dough by hand. Mix flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Beat sugar and butter in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well. Gradually beat in flour mixture on low speed until well mixed.
